Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III for Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in Apex, NC. The role supports park facilities, grounds, and equipment, working with rangers and maintenance staff to perform trades and maintenance duties.

Typical schedule is Mon-Fri 7:00 am - 4:00 pm with occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated work experience performing trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Experience maintaining buildings, facilities, and/or grounds maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints/structural specifications or building codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance.
• Operate and repair various tools and equipment.
• Purchase resources in accordance with state purchasing policies.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping.
• May supervise temporary/permanent staff and volunteers on special projects.
• Maintain preventive maintenance on tools, equipment and facilities.
