Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III at Fort Macon State Park. This role performs manual work maintaining park grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment, both independently and with others, across custodial duties, boundary clearing, trail maintenance, mowing, basic auto mechanics, and related tasks.

The position requires experience in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical or auto mechanics,

Qualifications

Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
Demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping.
Demonstrated experience in maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds equipment.
Demonstrated experience reading and/or interpreting blueprints/building codes.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
Operate and repair various tools and equipment.
Maintain preventative maintenance on tools, equipment and facilities.
Purchase resources per state policies.
Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
Assist in housekeeping.
May supervise temporary and permanent staff, volunteers, or community service participants on special projects.
