Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools to coach and mentor students, helping them improve academics, attendance, and behavior. You’ll work with teachers on classroom activities, lead small groups, and monitor progress using City Year data systems.

Training is provided at the start of the year, followed by ongoing support from school staff. This entry‑level, paid role emphasizes service, development, and positive impact in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math activities and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and apply a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress in City Year data system.
• Help develop interpersonal skills through daily activities and reflections.
• Assist in planning and delivering in-class and after-school programs.
