Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools to coach and mentor students toward academic success, better attendance and positive behavior. Entry‑level, paid, full‑time service includes training and ongoing support from teacher partners while you develop classroom skills.

As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll work with teachers to monitor student progress, plan literacy and math activities, and help create a safe, engaging learning environment for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the U.S. must be confirmed.
• GED/high school diploma or higher education completed.
• 17–25 years old by start date.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Support teachers with whole-class instruction and in-class supervision.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces with teachers.
• Help run extended day and after‑school programs.
