Zusammenfassung

UNC Health offers a 10-week, paid Student Nurse Externship Program designed for rising senior ADN and BSN students to gain hands-on clinical experience. The extern role works with an RN partner to apply nursing concepts in a supportive hospital setting.

Participants will develop clinical judgment, bedside skills, and professional socialization while preparing for licensure and a transition to registered nurse roles in cardiac and general patient care environments.

Qualifikationen

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care assignments.
• Basic computer skills.

Aufgaben

• Observes and documents patient information; reports significant changes to a nurse.
• Assists patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provides care such as measuring vitals, wound care, glucose checks, and range of motion exercises.
• Provides direct personal care for activities of daily living.
• Assists with routine examinations, procedures, and equipment procurement during emergencies.

Fluent in English

Basic computer skills

High School Diploma/GED

Prelicensure nursing program (soon to graduate)

BLS certification
