UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is offering a ten-week paid Student Nurse Externship for rising senior ADN and BSN nursing students. You will work with experienced RNs in a busy hospital setting, participate in patient care, and observe multiple specialties to enhance your foundational clinical skills.

This temporary full-time externship provides mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to the Nursing Assistant scope under RN supervision, with a schedule May 24–July 31 and typical 40-hour weeks.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current enrollment in accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
• Nursing Assistant I listed with NC DHHS and BLS certification are noted requirements.
• Fluent in English; able to organize and prioritize patient care; basic computer skills.

Mansioni

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports changes to RN or provider.
• Assists patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Performs care/treatments as outlined in plan of care including vital signs, measurements, wound care, basic procedures.
• Provides direct personal care for activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance.
• Performs indirect care duties: cleaning, stocking, transporting, and clerical tasks.
• Reinforces patient teaching and documents understanding of instructions.
• Assists providers during routine examinations and procedures and during emergency equipment needs.
• In psychiatric settings, aids in reality orientation, behavior plans, de-escalation, and therapeutic milieu management.
