You will staff and hire to meet needs, promote career development, resolve conflicts, and manage safety and training requirements. The role emphasizes strong communication and leadership in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) are helpful.
• Strong communication with clear direction to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze financial information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling and lead a team that works safely.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in daily store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members; support career development and promotions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and staffing decisions as needed.
• Manage P&L, sales targets and shrink to meet department goals.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Ensure training completion and thorough knowledge of jobs and processes.
• Spend most time in-store interacting with customers and team members to deliver exceptional service.
