Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas and lead safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members for development and advancement.
• Improve customer service, drive store sales and maintain customer needs.
• Maintain store appearance focused on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Ensure positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and discharge recommendations.
• Oversee P&L, sales goals and shrink control.
• Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure thorough training of the team and completion of required training.
• Spend time in-store engaging with customers and team members.
• Maintain safe work environment and ensure reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
