Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Michigan is seeking a store leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across departments.

You will mentor teammates, drive sales, ensure customer needs are met, and maintain store presentation and standards during peak hours. You will staff and hire to meet staffing needs, promote internal career paths, resolve conflicts, and control expenses while delivering friendly service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service/product flow experience helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members to provide direction.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze financial and statistical information.
• Proven ability to mentor team members at various levels and ensure safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance, focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document disciplinary actions and make discharge recommendations when needed.
• Ensure responsibilities for P&L, shrink control, and achieving sales goals.
• Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service; communicate Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings.
