Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada is seeking an Overnight Support Staff member for the Parker House family shelter in Sacramento. This part-time role runs 10:30pm–7:00am, Monday through Thursday, providing short-term emergency housing and supportive services for homeless families with children.

You will work in a safe, non-judgmental environment, coordinating daily routines, assisting residents, and supporting staff in implementing care plans to achieve program goals.

Qualifications

• Teamwork and communication are essential.
• Ability to assist residents and collaborate with staff.
• Competent in basic computer tasks and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and provide compassionate service to residents.
• Explain program rules and coordinate meals, bedding, showers, and laundry.
• Answer phones, complete shift logs and routine reports.
• Perform hourly safety checks and respond to emergencies.
• Document client concerns and maintain logs.
