Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Inc. seeks a dedicated Support Staff member for the Parker House family shelter, a full-time overnight position providing emergency housing and supportive services to homeless families with dependent children.

You will perform quality service in a safe, non-judgmental manner, handle daily routines, coordinate meals, maintain security, complete shift logs, and support program objectives under supervision of the Program Manager;

Qualifications

• This position requires demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Experience working with homeless populations, youth and families is beneficial.
• Must pass background clearances and obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and assist residents with daily routines.
• Coordinate meal preparation/service, sleeping assignments, showers, and laundry.
• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain grounds security; perform hourly safety checks.
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain shift logs, reports, and program documentation.
• Assist with housekeeping and ensure health/sanitation standards.
