Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Temporary Shift Supervisor for the Cold Weather Shelter Program in Mountain View. The role oversees day-to-day Emergency Shelter operations, supervises Resident Advocates, and ensures safety and compliance.

Strong communication, leadership, and crisis-management skills are essential. Ideal candidates are experienced with unhoused populations and can work nights, weekends, and overnights.

Qualifications

• : AA Degree (or equivalent) or 3 years field experience in social services.
• : Strong written and oral communication skills.
• : Ability to multitask and manage crises with de-escalation techniques.
• : Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and teamwork.
• : Knowledge of basic data entry and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Service and supervise program participants, guests, and staff.
• Ensure safety, security, and shelter guidelines are followed.
• Assist with referrals, intakes, reports, schedules, and coverage.
• Review schedules, PTO requests, and timecards; support staffing needs.
• Conduct interviews and onboarding for staff; ensure minimum shift staffing.
• Maintain site operations including room setup, cleanliness, and supplies.
• Respond to emergencies using de-escalation and crisis intervention.
• Document all services in HMIS within 3 business days.
