Job summary

Care For the Homeless is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee shelter residents, staff, and facilities under the Operations Coordinator. The role ensures welfare, safety, security, and smooth daily operations for mentally ill and medically frail homeless adults.

Responsibilities include supervising residential workers, coordinating coverage, conducting routine checks, and handling incidents with appropriate documentation and crisis intervention. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and 8-hour annual certificate.
• F80 Fire Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for the general welfare and safety of residents and staff.
• Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.
• Complete routine resident and facility checks to ensure safety and hazard-free operations.
• Ensure nightly head count and maintain CARES reports as assigned.
• Record incidents and resident grievances in log books and incident reports.
• Assign work-related projects to residence workers, security, and maintenance as needed.
• Inspect cleaning and service chores to ensure completion.
• Conduct fire drills across all shifts and ensure procedures are followed.
• Intervene and coordinate emergency calls with appropriate authorities as necessary.
• Interview and train residence workers as directed by leadership.
• Provide emergency coverage when needed and arrange for shift coverage.
• Other duties as assigned.
