Job summary

HomeFirst in San Jose is seeking a Shift Supervisor to manage day-to-day Emergency Shelter operations, supervise Resident Advocates, and uphold safety and service standards at the BRC site.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, intake support, and ensuring compliance with shelter guidelines, while coordinating with the Program Manager and staff across shifts. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• AA Degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) OR three years of field experience in social services
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals
• Experience working with an unhoused population

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Service and supervision of staff to meet service delivery standards
• Ensure safety, security, and adherence to shelter guidelines for participants, guests and staff
• Assist with interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding staff; manage schedules and timecards

Skills

Sensitivity to unhoused individuals

Education

AA Degree or two years of higher education

Three years of field experience in social services
