Job summary

HomeFirst in Mountain View, CA seeks a Resident Advocate for the Cold Weather Shelter Program. This temporary, full-time non-exempt role supports on-site operations, assists participants with housing plans, and ensures safety and service delivery at the shelter.

You will document services in HMIS, conduct intake assessments, and coordinate with program staff to meet participants' needs with trauma-informed care and Crisis Prevention techniques. Nights/weekends possible.

Qualifications

• AA degree or two years of higher education.
• Lived experience or sensitivity to unhoused population.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and overnights.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Direct care, safety, and supervision of participants.
• Enter service notes into HMIS within 3 business days.
• Complete intakes and VI-SPDAT assessments.
• Develop and update participants' housing plans.
• Respond to crises with de-escalation techniques.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down daily activities.
• Perform general site upkeep and report maintenance needs.
