Job summary

Community Teamwork in Lowell MA is seeking a Residential Counselor for the Shelter Staff program to work with clients in a congregate emergency shelter, providing life skills support and enforcing house rules with a trauma-informed approach.

Responsibilities include intake, guidance on daily activity schedules, safety oversight, housekeeping, and crisis intervention as needed. CTI values—equity, integrity, compassion—guide daily practice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site.
• Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately, and communicate according to established guidelines.
• Complete the intake process for new guests.
• Provide support and structure, addressing guest/resident problems or concerns.
• Initiate crisis intervention when necessary.
• Record documentation as required by program guidelines.
• Uphold the values of CTI - Equity, Integrity, Compassion.
