Job summary

The Sophia Way in Bellevue/Kirkland is seeking Shelter Staff to support vulnerable populations and help maintain a safe, welcoming shelter environment. You\'ll assist residents, apply crisis intervention skills, and participate in trauma-informed care to address daily challenges.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field with at least one year of shelter experience with homeless populations.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently with a compassionate approach.
• Current Food Handler’s Certification or Permit.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of shelter residents.
• Provide crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation as needed.
• Support daily shelter operations including cleaning, meal setups, and incident reporting.
• Collaborate with leadership and volunteers to maintain a calm, organized environment.
