Job summary

The HomeFirst Resident Advocate in San Jose (Tuesday - Saturday) is responsible for the day-to-day operation on site, ensuring participant needs are met and safety maintained. The role includes facilitating access to services, coordinating workshops, and supervising guests to maintain a respectful and supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop client service or housing plans.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Service (90%): care, safety and supervision of participants and guests.
• Implement and enforce site rules and guidelines; welcome all agency guests.
• Check guests in/out using HMIS and document services within 3 business days.
• Complete intake of potential participants and assess housing needs.
• Collaborate with participants to execute and update housing plans.
• Respond to guest crises using de-escalation and MHFA techniques.
• Lead weekly on-site workshops on topics like financial literacy and tenant rights.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
• Represent HomeFirst to volunteers and the public.
