Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Temporary Shift Supervisor for Site 1 (OWL) in San Jose. The role oversees overnight shelter operations, supervises Resident Advocates and Coordinators, and ensures program compliance and safety.

The candidate will utilize de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention as needed to support unhoused individuals. The position requires staff supervision, scheduling, and administrative support, with a strong emphasis on empathy, documentation, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop client service or housing plans.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Service (90%) – ensure service delivery standards and supervise participants, guests, and staff.
• Review and approve schedules, PTO, and timecards.
• Assist with interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding staff.
• Ensure minimum staffing per shift is met and maintain site safety.
• Complete and file paperwork in a timely manner and maintain confidentiality.
• Respond to emergencies with de-escalation and crisis intervention as applicable.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
• Represent HomeFirst professionally to volunteers, donors, and partners.
