Job summary

CMHA-CEI is hiring for AMHS/Crisis Services in Lansing, MI. The role involves answering crisis lines, performing crisis interventions, and connecting callers with appropriate care. You will document contacts, support referrals, and collaborate with police and hospitals as needed.

A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field is required, with 1 year of experience with mental illness, or 2 years paraprofessional experience. Michigan driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
• Minimum of one year of professional experience with persons with mental illness; may consider two years paraprofessional experience.
• Must operate a computer and gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI systems like Smart Care and Word.
• Must have valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Answer crisis phone lines and conduct crisis intervention.
• Provide brief Solution Focused Therapy and teach coping skills.
• Document contacts and support data entry in electronic records.
• Coordinate with police, 911, and other providers; assist with hospital referrals/placements.
