Job summary

CMHA-CEI seeks a professional to deliver direct and indirect mental health services, including answering crisis lines and conducting interventions. You will teach coping strategies, de-escalate crises, and assist with referrals and hospital placements from Lansing, MI, working with police and emergency services as needed.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and 1+ year of relevant experience; Michigan driver’s license and computer proficiency in CMHA-CEI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field required.
• Minimum of one year of professional mental health experience; two years allowed with paraprofessional experience.
• Must operate a computer and gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI’s systems including Smart Care and MS Word.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Answer crisis phone lines and conduct crisis interventions.
• Provide brief Solution Focused Therapy and coping skills teaching.
• De-escalate crises and connect clients with appropriate level of care.
• Coordinate with police, 911, and other providers as needed.
• Document contacts and enter data into the electronic records system.
• Recommend referrals and assist with hospital referrals/placements when needed.
