Job summary

Meijer in Muskegon, MI is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement, development and performance. You will guide Leads and Team Leaders, manage area operations and finances, and implement process improvements while upholding Meijer culture.

You will lead talent discussions, ensure onboarding and coaching, and oversee staffing to maintain service excellence and growth in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, including budget items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store conditions.
• Guides Team Leaders and Leads in daily assignments and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
