Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to oversee engagement and development within the span of care, driving coaching, recognition and performance management. The role requires directing Leads and Team Leaders while owning area operations and P&L performance.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in retail leadership, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and a passion for delivering industry-leading service and inclusive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Proactive/creative thinking and applying it to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and gain market share.
• Strong business acumen and innovative attitude to set industry standards.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identifies talent and develops diversification in staffing for roles.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and career growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget line items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance, and manages store condition and procedures.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads with daily assignments and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
