Job summary

The Container Store Inc. is seeking an Outside Sales & Design Consultant to design and sell custom storage spaces for homes and select businesses, managing projects from in-home consultation to installation.

You will build repeat clientele, generate referrals, and develop trade relationships to drive recurring revenue. The role offers a competitive base salary with a ramp-up period and a lucrative monthly bonus tied to sales performance, along with comprehensive benefits and strong earning

Qualifications

• College degree preferred with 2-5 years of outside sales experience; custom spaces or closets experience preferred.
• Self-starter who is organized, creative, solutions-oriented, and able to manage time, appointments, and projects efficiently in a white glove customer service space
• Knowledge of design principles and trends in custom spaces, interior design, fashion, and retail industries
• Professional appearance and demeanor, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing
• Flexible and positive attitude, with the ability to prioritize high-value tasks and adapt quickly to shifting priorities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; Salesforce; AutoCAD based design tools; and Windows-based systems
• Reliable transportation for customer appointments within a travel radius of up to 100 miles; must maintain valid automobile insurance and meet applicable state inspection standards
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and additional hours as needed to meet customer and business demands
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Meets or exceeds sales goals, conversions, and positive customer surveys by inspiring, designing, and confidently selling complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions for residential, business, and trade clients across all applicable spaces
• Ability to establish trust, rapport, and understand customer needs to design and present projects and customized plans in a clear and professional manner
• Accountable for managing and maintaining multiple, simultaneous customer projects with a high level of detail, accuracy, timely follow-up, and consistent, concise communication
• Develops clientele and new leads through ongoing customer relationships, networking, referrals, and professional partnerships
• Builds relationships within the local community by connecting with interior designers, home builders, realtors, property managers, senior living professionals, and other business partners
• Identifies, develops, and manages small to mid-sized B2B and trade opportunities, including multi-unit, repeat, or phased projects
• Arrives promptly to all scheduled appointments and work assignments, and attends installations as needed to ensure a positive customer experience and identify referral opportunities
• Maintains discretion related to all confidential and sensitive company and customer information
