Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to build and sustain relationships with local contractors and builders. You will sell a full line of building materials and installed services, manage ongoing projects, and grow your customer base through proactive communication and site visits.

You will collect input on product usage, prepare estimates and quotes, and maintain accurate customer records while coordinating with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales and a strong understanding of home building basics.
• Ability to create material estimates/quotes and manage special orders.
• Open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Learn to read blueprints and provide material take-off lists.
• Ability to work independently with strong planning and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and related tools.
• Willingness to attend HBA/builder/company functions as required.

Responsibilities

• Sell the full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders and remodelers.
• Manage accounts after sale and maintain relationships to drive repeat business.
• Visit job sites as needed and keep product usage data current.
• Maintain schedules and follow up on project status and needs.
• Collaborate with yard, dispatch and middle management to ensure customer satisfaction.
