Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a part-time scheduling and registration specialist to manage outpatient visits and procedures. You will collect information, verify guarantor details, and ensure accurate registration and scheduling across ambulatory clinics.

Responsibilities include checking patients in/out, coordinating follow-up bookings, handling payments, and communicating with physicians and staff to maintain smooth patient care processes in a standard office environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out patients according to Scheduling/Registration guidelines and prioritize as needed.
• Obtain and verify patient guarantor information annually to ensure records are up-to-date; generate referrals if needed.
• Schedule and register patients in appropriate clinics per guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing at check-out.
• Obtain all necessary information from patient to schedule/register appointments.
• Identify and communicate need for scheduling modifications.
• Notify relevant staff of scheduling changes due to patient cancellations.
• Respond to patient and staff needs and complaints within the patient-care environment; involve supervisors as needed.
• Consult with referring physician offices to ensure orders exist and are obtained; verify completeness; document external orders.
