Job summary

UCSF Medical Center in California is seeking a Practice Coordinator to serve as the public face of the Practice, supporting operations and patient services across clinical and administrative teams.

You will manage patient registration, scheduling, referrals, eligibility, billing, and MyChart in-baskets, ensuring accurate workflows and superior service in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination
• Fingerprinting and cash collection if applicable
• Proficiency with multiple Office-type programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) and patient record systems
• Ability to analyze situations, prioritize, and develop solutions
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and under deadlines
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, both telefones and in person
• Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills
• Strong writing and documentation skills
• Experience with medical practice terminology
• Completion of supervisor proficiency checklist within six months of start date

Responsibilities

• Serve as the public face of the Practice and support operations across administrative and clinical teams
• Manage patient registration, scheduling, referrals processing, and eligibility authorizations
• Handle billing tasks, scanning, and APeX in-baskets as assigned
• Maintain routine clerical operations and adhere to house and telephone standards
• Support patient care flow between medical, hospital staff and departments to maximize unit efficiency
