Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is seeking Field Data Technicians to collect detailed information about electric utility and telecom facilities.

This outdoor role requires hiking between spans to capture data for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic construction projects, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided. The position involves routine overnight travel of 1–2 weeks, weekends at home, and occasional longer stays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
• Enjoy outdoor work in all weather and perform physically demanding tasks lifting 15–20 lbs regularly.
• Read, interpret and follow GPS maps; work with data and maps accurately.
• Reliable transportation is required; ability to travel and stay away from home.

Responsibilities

• Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data supporting engineering and design of fiber optic facilities.
• Submit organized data for each project including maps, field notes and digital images.
• Operate and maintain equipment including tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and PPE.
• Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
• Communicate effectively on a daily basis with the project management team.
• Work safely and independently.
