You will verify demographics and insurance, handle confidential records, and coordinate with providers and staff while maintaining neat waiting areas; a strong customer service ethos and healthcare environment familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others and work independently.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently in a healthcare environment.
• NVCI training.
• Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
• Problem solving, attention to detail, decision-making, continuous improvement.
• Ability to learn and operate computer systems.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, employees, and other customers promptly and direct them appropriately.
• Check orthopedic patients in for appointments and verify demographic information and insurance cards.
• Schedule patient appointments and enter information into the computer system; assess emergency status and schedule accordingly.
• Reschedule patient appointments to accommodate requests.
• Schedule incoming orthopedic referrals with an appropriate provider.
• Receive and distribute mail; prepare and/or mail correspondence and materials.
• Handle all patient requests for release of information accurately and confidentially.
• Compose and distribute messages to providers and nursing staff; provide detailed information.
• Prepare and prep charts for appointments, scan documents, and manage medical records.
• Develop and maintain competency with clinical computer systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
