Job summary

VisionWorks in Salem, MA is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations, perform pre-exam diagnostic tests, and clearly explain each step of the process.

You will act as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, assist with eye examinations, document results in EMR, help with insurance preauthorizations, and support scheduling and patient flow while maintaining a clean, professional clinic environment.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather Medical History and ocular data in EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and explain pre-testing steps to patients; document results in EMR.
• Support remote appointments by guiding patients through remote eye exams; document results and initiate video conferencing.
• Transition patients to a retail associate after exams and communicate doctor recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of plan benefits, assist with insurance preauthorization and schedule follow-ups.
• Maintain clinic cleanliness and proper handling of equipment and supplies.
