Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite or remote examinations, perform pre-exam tests, and explain each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists, assisting in early patient journey steps.

The role includes both in-store and remote responsibilities, requires strong patient service, and involves documenting results in EMR while coordinating with retail staff to ensure smooth referrals and appointments.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office/business professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather/upload Medical History and ocular data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Guide remote eye exams: pre-testing, remote conferencing, and documenting results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits to patients and help with preauthorization of insurance.
• Coordinate appointments and manage exam books per company guidelines.
• Maintain patient flow to support doctor effectiveness.
• Answer clinical questions in person and by phone; triage ocular emergencies.
