Job summary

AEG Vision in Elgin, Illinois seeks an Optometric Technician to support patient care alongside Optometrists. Responsibilities include pre-testing, specialty testing, and helping manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure efficient visits.

You will document findings in EHR, assist with referrals and insurances, maintain exam room readiness, and help with frames and inventory while delivering high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients' records per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification: CPO, CPOA or CPOT.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-testing procedures and assist with specialty diagnostic testing.
• Schedule referrals and manage appointment paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in EHR and verify CPT codes.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization and contact patients as needed.
• Cleans and organizes frames and office areas.
• May act as a scribe or perform refractions.
• Performs end-of-day duties and inventory management.
