Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. You will perform pre-exam evaluations, assist with diagnostic testing, and manage scheduling to ensure efficient, high-quality visits.

The role requires knowledge of eye care terminology, HIPAA compliance, and relevant certifications. On-site work with a focus on teamwork, accuracy, and patient education is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Conduct verbal interviews with patients prior to visits to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists or other specialists and complete related paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments and refer to the Optometrist as needed.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings in EHR and assist with clinical documentation tasks.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization through pre- and post-appointment confirmations and recall outreach.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage contact lens inventory and orders.
• Carry out end-of-day wrap-up and office organization tasks.
• May act as a scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions.
