Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking a Part-time Optometric Technician in Deerfield, IL to support doctors with patient care, pre-testing, and post-exam duties. The role involves scheduling, maintaining patient records, and communicating treatment plans to patients.

Responsibilities include assisting ODs, handling patient inquiries, and performing diagnostic testing with specialty equipment as needed. This position emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment and communicate effectively.
• Experience or familiarity with eye exams and patient care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary evaluation of patients prior to exam by the OD, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications.
• Enters patient information in Electronic Health Records (EEHR).
• Assists ODs to care for patients in a timely, effective manner, as close to appointed schedule as possible.
• Instructs patients on medical care and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Discusses Lasik with patients and identifies those interested in Lasik.
• May schedule referrals with ophthalmologists and other specialists and complete paperwork.
• Maintains patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other policies.
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Performs proper coding of procedures for payment collection.
• May perform diagnostic testing using specialized equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Corresponds with doctor offices regarding patient and insurance referrals.
• Supports the OD with patient education as instructed.
• Documents medical findings in EMR and assists with medical documentation.
• Participates in practice meetings and projects.
