Job summary

AEG is hiring an Optometric Technician to support the Optometrists and deliver high-quality patient care and education. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, manage the doctor’s schedule, and help ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience from start to finish.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced eye care practice; prior HIPAA‑compliant record handling is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, VA).
• Schedule referral appointments and manage documentation.
• Record and maintain patient records in EHR and HIPAA-compliant systems.
• Ensure scheduling efficiency via pre- and post-appointment confirmations.
