Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and deliver high‑quality patient education and care. You will conduct pre‑testing, assist with diagnostics, and help manage appointment flow to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Responsibilities include preliminary patient evaluations, documenting findings in EHR, coordinating referrals, and providing clerical support while maintaining HIPAA compliant records.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MS Office and basic software.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist.
• Perform verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist.
• Schedule referral appointments and complete paperwork as needed.
• Record and maintain patient records per HIPAA regulations.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications or treatments.
• May perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, etc.).
• Document medical findings in EHR and assist with clerical duties.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization via pre- and post-appointment confirmations.
• Manage contact lens insertion/removal classes and inventory.
• Complete end-of-day duties and keep work area clean.
