Job summary

AEG Vision in Providence, RI seeks an Optometric Technician to support doctors and staff in delivering exceptional patient care. You will perform pre-exam testing, education, and clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow from welcome to completion.

The role requires strong attention to detail, HIPAA familiarity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced eye-care practice.

Qualifications

• Experience with patient records per HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to learn and use practice management software.
• Familiarity with eye care terminology and procedures.
• Professional communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations before exam and assist the Optometrist.
• Interview patients to determine medical issues for the doctor.
• Schedule referrals and manage paperwork for visits.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries about medications and treatment.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using specialty equipment as needed.
• Document findings in EHR and assist with clerical duties.
• Maximize schedule utilization with confirmations and recalls.
• Perform contact lens insertion/removal demonstrations and orders.
• Handle end-of-day wrap-up and keep the practice organized.
