Job summary

AEG is hiring an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage appointment schedules to ensure efficient, high-quality patient experiences from start to finish.

You will perform preliminary patient evaluations, document findings in EHR, and assist with clerical duties while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms related to eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topical meds, Optomap, etc.).
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Operate diagnostic equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with related clerical duties.
• Manage schedule utilization and appointment confirmations.
• Provide contact lens insertion/removal instruction and manage inventory.
• Handle end-of-day wrap-up and maintain clean practice areas.
• May act as scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions.
