Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician to support optometrists and ensure exceptional patient care from check‑in to post‑exam. You will perform pre‑testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and manage the doctor’s schedule to deliver a smooth, high‑quality experience.

You will document findings in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), handle routine patient communications, and support clerical tasks while upholding HIPAA and company policies. This is a full‑time, on‑site role in Indiana.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity).
• Conduct verbal interviews with patients before visits to determine issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals to Ophthalmologists or others and complete paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings and communications in EHR; assist with clerical duties.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization via pre-appointment confirmations and recall outreach.
• Conduct contact lens training and manage contact lens inventory/orders.
• Complete end-of-day wrap-up and maintain cleanliness of the practice.
• May act as scribe or assist with refractions.
• Perform other duties as requested.
