Job summary

AEG Vision in Ocala, Florida is seeking an Optometric Technician to support all patient care activities alongside Optometrists. You will conduct pre‑testing, assist with specialty testing, schedule appointments, and help deliver high‑quality patient experiences from start to finish.

Responsibilities include conducting preliminary evaluations, performing diagnostic tests, recording findings in EHR, and handling related clerical duties.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms related to eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patient records per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Conduct diagnostic tests using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Manage the doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure efficient, high‑quality patient experience.
• Record medical findings and communications between Optometrist and patient in EHR; assist with clerical duties.
• Ensure schedule utilization by confirming appointments and rescheduling no‑shows.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal classes and inventory management.
• End‑of‑day duties including schedule wrap‑up and maintaining clean work areas.
