Job summary

AEG is hiring an Optometric Technician to supportOptometrists in delivering high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing procedures, assist with specialty diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure an efficient, patient-centered experience.

The role emphasizes patient interaction, accurate record-keeping, and collaboration within the clinical team to deliver exceptional eye care across all patient encounters.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Certification in eye care (CPO, CPOA, CPOT) is a plus.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills including MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostics, Optomap, etc.).
• Schedule referrals to ophthalmologists and complete paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in HIPAA-compliant systems.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and care with the Optometrist.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Ensure efficient scheduling and pre/post-appointment communications to optimize patient flow.
• Assist as a scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions when needed.
