Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support clinicians and ensure high‑quality patient care from pre‑testing through post‑exam tasks. You will assist with scheduling, testing, and documentation to deliver efficient, accurate care.

You will perform preliminary patient evaluations, operator tests, and coordinate referrals while maintaining HIPAA compliance and smooth daily operations in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations before exam (dilation, medications, visual acuity).
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork for specialists.
• Record and maintain patient records per HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and care.
• Perform diagnostic testing using OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera.
• Assist with clerical duties and medical documentation tasks.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization via confirmations and recalls.
• Handle contact lens insertion/removal training and inventory.
• End-of-day wrap-up and maintain cleanliness of the practice.
