Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for exams, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining steps throughout the process. They act as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, supporting both onsite and remote examination journeys.

The role requires registration duties, test administration, insurance preauthorization, and collaboration with retail staff to guide patients from exam to purchase.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Guide remote patients through pre-testing and remote exam steps.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books per guidelines.
• Maintain patient records and educate on contact lens care.
• Work flexible schedules and travel to other locations.
