Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite or remote exams, conduct pre-exam tests, and explain each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and help initiate the patient journey.

The role supports a great patient experience, handles medical history data, documents results in EMR, and ensures proper contact lens instructions and pairings, with occasional travel to other locations as required.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and explain preliminary tests.
• Administer preliminary tests and document results in EMR.
• For remote appointments, assist patients through remote eye exam process and document results.
• Transition patient to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Maintain patient flow and respond to patient questions, triage emergencies.
• Instruct patients on contact lens handling and manage stock orders.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
