Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process.

You will liaise between patients and Optometrists, assist with remote eye exams, manage registrations, insurance preauthorizations, and maintain accurate patient records while delivering compassionate service to diverse patients.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather information including medical history and ocular data in EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams, including pre-testing and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books with no-show follow-ups.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions in person or by phone.
