Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant in New York to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process.

The role acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, supports both in-person and remote eye exams, documents results in the EMR, and helps transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations. Training provided.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and document medical history and ocular data in EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and clearly explain preliminary testing to patients.
• For remote patients, assist through remote eye exam processes and document results.
• Transition after exams to retail staff and convey doctor recommendations.
• Manage appointment scheduling and exam books per company guidelines.
• Maintain patient records accurately and answer clinical questions.
