Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support both onsite and remote eye exams. You will prepare patients, perform pre-exam testing, and guide them through the journey, liaising between patients and Optometrists to ensure a smooth experience.

Responsibilities include entering medical history into EMR, assisting doctors, explaining procedures, and helping with insurance preauthorization. You will also coordinate with retail staff for follow-up care and appointments.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical/healthcare setting.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and enter medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and explain testing steps.
• Support remote eye exams, including pre-testing and documenting results.
• Transition patients to retail staff with treatment recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and assist with insurance preauthorization.
• Schedule exams and manage appointment books.
• Maintain patient records and ensure clean exam environment.
• Instruct on contact lens use and manage orders.
