Job summary

Visionworks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a positive patient experience by preparing patients for examinations, performing pre-testing, and explaining each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and support both in-person and remote exam workflows.

The role requires at least one year of related experience, with preferred optical/healthcare background.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience is required or preferred.
• Optical/Healthcare background is preferred.
• Medical office professionalism is required.
• HS diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Training is provided for this role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for on-site or remote examinations and conduct pre-exam testing.
• Assist the doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Explain testing steps to patients and guide them through remote exams when needed.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage contact lens orders.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and handling.
• Support scheduling and patient flow, including no-shows and cancellations.
• Travel to other locations as required.
