Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for on-site and remote examinations, run pre-exam tests, and clearly explain each step of the process. You will act as a liaison between patients and optometrists, assist with insurance preauthorization, schedule follow-ups, and help transition patients to a retail associate with the doctor’s recommendations.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations (on-site or remote).
• Complete pre-exam diagnostic tests and document results in EMR.
• Explain testing steps to patients and guide them through the process.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and documenting results in EMR.
• Coordinate with retail associate to convey doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs and manage appointment scheduling.
• Maintain patient records and ensure clean, organized work environment.
