Job summary

VisionWorks Exeter is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for visits, run pre-exam tests and explain procedures. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists, assist with remote eye exams, and help transition patients to retail staff with care recommendations.

You will manage registrations, insurance preauthorization, and EMR documentation while maintaining patient records and handling contact lens orders.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience required
• Optical or healthcare background preferred
• Medical office professionalism required
• HS diploma or GED or equivalent
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect Medical History and ocular data in EMR
• Assist on-site with eye exams and clearly explain preliminary tests to patients
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and documenting results in EMR
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations
• Preauthorize insurance and schedule follow-ups with customers
• Maintain patient records per company standards
• Instruct patients on contact lens use and handling
• Stock and process contact lens orders and trials
• Ensure clean, organized clinical environment and equipment
